Main components of ball valves and their functions

Ball valves are widely used in industry and households to control fluid flow. Its basic structure includes several key components, each of which plays an important role. The main components are: ball, valve body, valve seat, valve stem and handle.

The ball is the core component of the ball valve. It is usually made of stainless steel, copper or plastic and is shaped like a sphere. There is a through hole in the ball through which the fluid flows. The rotation of the ball controls the opening and closing of the fluid. Rotating 90 degrees can completely open or close the valve.

The valve body is the outer shell that supports the entire ball valve structure, usually made of cast iron, aluminum alloy or stainless steel. Its main function is to fix the ball and other components together and provide a fluid channel. The design of the valve body has an important influence on the pressure resistance and corrosion resistance of the ball valve parts.

The valve seat is located in the valve body and directly contacts the ball. The valve seat is usually made of wear-resistant materials such as PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) and is responsible for ensuring the sealing between the ball and the valve body. The material selection and design of the valve seat are crucial to the sealing performance of the ball valve.

The valve stem connects the ball and the external operating device. It is usually a long rod with one end fixed to the ball and the other end connected to a handle or electric device. The function of the valve stem is to transmit the operating force to the ball to achieve the rotation of the ball. The design of the valve stem needs to take into account corrosion resistance and wear resistance.

The handle is the main component for operating the ball valve and is usually connected to the valve stem. When the handle is operated, the ball can be rotated to the open or closed position to control the flow of fluid. The design of the handle needs to be ergonomic for easy operation and adjustment.

Each component plays a vital role in the operation of the ball valve, ensuring smooth control of the fluid and stability of the system. Understanding the various components of the ball valve and their functions will help to better maintain and operate this critical equipment.
